Print PDFMr. Hicks is a shareholder at the Riverside office of Gresham Savage and is the vice chair of the Litigation Department. Mr. Hicks has experience in a broad range of litigation but concentrates on complex commercial litigation, including real property and development disputes, construction litigation, unfair business practices, trade secret litigation, 17200 litigation, business torts, and breach of contract litigation.
Mr. Hicks graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1999. During law school, Mr. Hicks served on the editorial board of the San Diego Law Review.

- Represents the interests of commercial lenders under receivership in a variety of multi-million dollar breach of loan and foreclosure lawsuits
- Represents an international product development company in a contract dispute involving intellectual property rights
- Represents a large retail developer in a dispute with contractors, engineers and subcontractors regarding soil subsidence issues
- Represents a corporation in a fraud/business tort lawsuit filed by a former shareholder against the corporation
- Represents a regional Real Estate Investment Trust in a multi-million dollar construction defect lawsuit
- Represents a real property investment company in a complex fraud lawsuit filed by a former investor
- Represents a 42 year old farming enterprise in a complex commercial dispute with an agricultural lender
- Represents a specialty general contractor in a contract dispute with property owners
- Represents an international concrete and aggregate producer in an easement lawsuit
- Represents an office services provider in a lease dispute with a mortgage broker
Successful Litigation Results
- Represented a Riverside product design firm and obtained a $420,000 damages award after a 3-week arbitration earlier this year
- Obtained a complete defense verdict in an alleged multi-million dollar real property lawsuit brought by an adjoining landowner, and recovered attorneys' fees from the other party
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of developer against commercial tenant in a multi-million dollar lawsuit, and the client was awarded over $300,000 in attorneys' fees from the other party
- Obtained summary judgment on all causes of action in Riverside Superior Court for plaintiffs in a real property adverse possession lawsuit.
- Obtained a complete defense award for client in a multi-million dollar real property and breach of contract lawsuit following a 5 day JAMS binding arbitration.
- Successfully defended an application for a preliminary injunction and temporary restraining order against a national food distributor in a case alleging misappropriation of trade secrets
Successful Dispute Resolution
- Successful mediation and settlement of a lawsuit brought by client property owners against subcontractors
- Successful settlement of a lawsuit filed on behalf of client against water district for refusal to pay $120,000 fee for services. The district paid the full sum, plus interest, to our client.
- Settled a case on favorable terms to client water district in a fraud/breach of contract lawsuit filed by a customer regarding the adequacy of the customer’s water service
- Successful settlement of a breach of contract claim filed by a former board member against a client non-profit corporation
- Successful settlement on behalf of developer client in a complex negligence and real property damage lawsuit filed by adjacent landowners
- Successful mediation and settlement of seven construction related lawsuits for a local school district
