Ready. Set. Believe. We have faith in our community’s desire and ability to help find a cure for cancer. We also believe that funds raised in the Inland Empire should benefit the people who live in our communities. Our personal experiences with cancer have increased our awareness of this life threatening disease that affects each and every one of us, and it strengthens our resolve to fight against women’s cancers. We encourage you to join with us as we walk with the energy, spirit, and belief that the cure is just a walk away. Believe & Walk for the Cure Co-Chairs: Cathy Stockton, Annie Sellas, and Nancy Varner Loma Linda University Cancer Center: Today, cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States, about one in two men and one out of every three women will get a cancer diagnosis at some point in their life. “ We in the Inland Empire, where the population is larger than that of 24 states, deserve the best in cancer care. ” That means that in the Inland Empire, with a population of about four million, well over a million individuals can expect someday to receive a cancer diagnosis.

The new Cancer Center at Loma Linda University Medical Center has brought all aspects of cancer care into one location. A new biospecimen lab will make it possible to predict which specific agents a patient's cancer will respond to and thus facilitate highly customized treatment. Inpatient rooms have also been remodeled to reflect the latest knowledge about a healing environment. It is the region's only cancer center housed in an academic medical center, combining research with top clinical care in many specialties, as well as offering education to the community on cancer prevention. It is one of only a handful of cancer centers in California whose surgeons specialize exclusively in cancer surgery. The cancer center includes 11 centers of excellence in cancer care and is able to treat the most complicated cases. “ We invite you to partner with us in helping Loma Linda University Cancer Center deliver the very best – closer to home. ”
